Local History... of Pokesdown

....A little bit of interest, in a hidden village

One of the more confusing things in researching the locality, is that a number of the early roads/tracks have been re-routed.
Also to avoid dublication, when Pokesdown was amalgamated with with Bournemouth in 1901, a number of road names had to be changed!

With not much left of Pokesdown but a railway station, I thought I'd bring a few links together of the history of the area.

This section is a 'work in progress' We are scanning the origional, OCR'ing, proof reading etc.
First we will be concentrating on getting all the text onto the site, in chapter sized pages, before breaking it down in to better sized pages. Then finally inserting pictures etc.
